GHK-Cu is a complex of a short peptide with copper, best known in research focused on the appearance and condition of skin. It is commonly selected for projects involving collagen, the extracellular matrix, tissue renewal and copper-ion transport.
Each vial contains 50 mg of the characteristic blue lyophilisate. Its defined composition, batch number and certificate of analysis make it suitable for consistent comparative research.
Form: lyophilised powder, blue to blue-violet, in a glass vial with a butyl rubber stopper and an aluminium seal. Content: 50 mg of material per vial. Peptide purity: not less than 99 % by HPLC; copper content confirmed spectrometrically.
Fading of the lyophilisate to grey or pale blue indicates loss of the copper ion from the complex and disqualifies the vial from use in quantitative work. The batch number on the label points to the certificate of analysis; shipping is from a warehouse in Poland.
Keep the sealed vial at −20 °C, in a dry place shielded from light. The complex is sensitive to light and to contact with chelating agents, so vessels and pipettes used with it should not have had prior contact with EDTA solutions or other strong chelators – these strip the copper ion from the peptide and destroy the complex.
Laboratory reconstitution uses bacteriostatic water, added slowly down the wall of the vial; the solution turns an intense blue. Mix by swirling the vial gently, without shaking. Keep the solution at 2–8 °C in amber glass, avoiding high-pH and high-ionic-strength buffers, which promote precipitation. Use it within a short period; divide portions for longer storage into aliquots and freeze them.
This product is intended for research and laboratory purposes only. It is not a medicinal product, a food supplement, a cosmetic or a medical device, and it is not approved for use in humans or in animals. It is not suitable for consumption, for application to skin, for administration by any route, or for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes.
The material contains a copper compound – avoid inhaling dust and skin contact, work in gloves and safety glasses, and dispose of waste as heavy-metal-bearing waste. Keep out of the reach of children.
Mechanism
A distinctive blue powder – the colour comes from the copper ion. Most often used in work on topical formulations.
