PT-141, also known as bremelanotide, is a research peptide most commonly associated with libido and the central regulation of sexual response. It is selected for projects involving the melanocortin system, behaviour and receptor communication in the central nervous system.
Its cyclic structure makes it a useful material for comparing melanocortin receptor activity. The product is supplied as a lyophilised vial, and every batch is supported by purity testing and analytical documentation. For research use only.
Form: lyophilised powder in a type I glass vial with a chlorobutyl rubber stopper and an aluminium seal. Structure: cyclic heptapeptide closed by a lactam bridge. Purity: not less than 98% by HPLC. Appearance: white to slightly off-white cake.
The peptide content of the vial is stated on the batch label and in the certificate of analysis, which covers HPLC and mass spectrometry results. Vials are packed individually and without solvent; bacteriostatic water is ordered separately.
Unopened vials are stored at -20 °C, in the dark and at low humidity. Bring the vial to room temperature before opening so that water vapour does not condense on the cold cake.
Reconstitution uses bacteriostatic or sterile water, added slowly down the inner wall of the vial; the stream is never directed onto the cake. The vial is not shaken, because foaming promotes loss of peptide activity, and a gentle swirl until the solution is clear is enough. The solution is kept at 2-8 °C, protected from light, and treated as usable for a limited period; for longer holding it is aliquoted and frozen so that repeated thawing is avoided.
This product is supplied for research and laboratory purposes only. It is not a medicinal product, dietary supplement, cosmetic or medical device. It is not intended for ingestion or for any use in humans or animals.
The material may be handled only by personnel trained in working with chemical reagents, in a designated area and with personal protective equipment. Keep out of reach of children and unauthorised persons. Sold exclusively to research users.
